At Adarga, we are pleased to take on interns who are still studying or just starting out in their careers.
An internship is a chance to see how your skills apply to real problems, learn from experienced colleagues, and work out where you want to go next. Supporting that first step matters as much to us as the work itself.
This summer, Willow spent three weeks with our team. Read her account of her time at Adarga below.I recently completed a three-week internship at Adarga, an AI company in the defence sector that builds software to turn vast amounts of information into actionable intelligence.
When I arrived, the team had built an early proof-of-concept: a map that drew out relationships from hard-coded data. My job was to turn it into a working product that could take in real information and build a live, trustworthy picture of the key players in a market: who they are, how they're connected, and the best way to reach them.
What I built:
· Ingestion of real sources (files, URLs and CSVs)
· Autonomous AI agents that read open-source data and propose new connections using LLMs
· A suggested-edge system: proposed links appear as dashed edges and only become solid once a human confirms them, so nothing becomes a "fact" without sign-off
· Different lenses for exploring the map: the whole landscape, the warmest route to a target, or a deep dive on a single player
The stack is Next.js, tRPC and PostgreSQL, with the graph rendered in Cytoscape. We then deployed it live within the company. I leaned heavily on Claude Code throughout, learning to build fast with AI without losing sight of what's happening under the hood.
The biggest takeaway was seeing computer science and AI work in the real world for the first time. Watching what I'd studied become a product people rely on made a lot of my degree click, especially how much thought goes into making AI output trustworthy.
Huge thanks to the Adarga team for throwing me in at the deep end and backing me the whole way. Presenting the final product to the whole company was a real privilege.
Onto the next one.
