Assurance by Design: Adarga Certified to ISO/IEC 42001
When we built our first Natural Language Processing pipeline at Adarga in 2016, we did so on a simple premise: allied Defence, Security and Resilience (DSR) organisations would only trust AI they could hold to account. A decade on, that premise still shapes everything we build, from Catalyst to our mission applications and agents. That approach has now been independently assured.
Adarga has been certified to ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard for AI management systems. The certificate was issued on 28 August 2026 by the British Assessment Bureau, part of the Amtivo Group, following a Stage 2 audit that found no nonconformities.
What the certificate covers
ISO/IEC 42001 does not certify a single product. It certifies the way we work, across two things: how we use generative AI tools across our own business, and how we build our products, from Catalyst to our mission applications and agent harness.
Every AI system we build goes through an assured development lifecycle. It is impact-assessed before it reaches production, built on the principle that the AI proposes and a person decides, and audited internally, and by the certification body, against ethical, safety, compliance and security requirements. Our customers get what they asked for, and they can trust that we built it the way we said we would. ISO/IEC 42001 now gives our company, our board and our customers independent assurance of that.
Why this matters for the sector
Within the UK's DSR sector we are one of the first companies to achieve this standard, and we would encourage every vendor and supplier within DSR to follow suit. The people who rely on these systems for critical decisions should expect the UK industrial base to deliver products that are auditable and safe at the speed of relevance. This standard is one way of showing that.
